B & B opened its doors in August of 2018 and has been servicing the northern Virginia region ever since. Originally based out of Sola Salons, B & B transitioned to a larger studio space just down the road at Allure Salon Suites in 2020 and finally opened a storefront in downtown in early 2022! Our team specializes in blonding services, bridal hair, and hand tied extensions.

Stylists

Rachel started taking hair classes in 2013 and has been a licensed hairdresser since 2015. After spending a year assisting and doing hair on the side, she moved to Los Angeles, CA to further her education with a new foundation from the Toni & Guy Academy. There she studied directly under cutting master David Evans (National Creative Director) and award winning colorist Courtney Greenday.

In 2017, Rachel moved back to Virginia and accepted a job working behind the chair at a high end salon in north Stafford. By summer of 2018, she had transitioned into salon ownership by opening Bangs & Boujee Salon Studio where she took clients 4-6 days a week and traveled some weekends for weddings. In 2021 she expanded to a boutique storefront in the heart of downtown Fredericksburg. She now takes clients 4 days a week, trains her assistant 2 days a week, and runs all of the behind the scene operations that come with a full service salon and growing team!

Rachel’s continuing education includes hands on techniques and classes from Lisa Walker, Emmanuel Andrade, Victor Valverde, Mariah Cloke, Judith Viola, Nicole Higgins, Sarai Speer, and many others. She has graduated from the BBC Master boot camp class, is Brazilian Blowout Certified, Systeme Volume Extension Certified (currently not offering this service), hand tied extension certified, and a Halo Couture Extensions distributor. Her specialties include hand tied extensions, color corrections, and blonding services.

Julia started her cosmetology journey in the Fall of 2018, following her graduation from high school in her home state of Illinois. She has been a licensed hair stylist since February 2020. During her final year of cosmetology training she assisted at a boutique salon in Frankfort, Illinois where she later started her career behind the chair. Over the last 3 years, she has attended various classes with educators from Lanza, Eleven Color, and Patricia Nowakowski to further her education and skill set. One of these being the Grace Hand-Tied Extension class, where she became certified in hand tied extensions. She has always had a passion for hair but more specifically blonding services, lived-in color, and extensions. In her free time Julia frequents local coffee shops for an iced white mocha and loves a good target run. Julia moved to the Fredericksburg area in February 2022 with her husband and joined the Bangs & Boujee Salon team in shortly after settling in!

Jen has been a part of the Bangs and Boujee team since 2022 and brings a wealth of experience and passion to her work behind the chair. She’s been in the industry since 2017, with hands-on experience starting in 2019 after a year of assisting at a high-end salon in New York City. Jen holds cosmetology licenses in Virginia, New York, and North Carolina, and became Brazilian Blowout Certified in 2019. Known for her attention to detail and love for lived-in, dimensional color, Jen specializes in blonding services and low-maintenance color that grows out seamlessly. She’s all about creating beautiful, customized looks that fit each client’s lifestyle and vibe.

Mia has been a licensed stylist since January 2023 and has actively worked in the beauty industry since 2021. She is certified in hand-tied extensions, which showcases her dedication to her craft, and she has a deep passion for blonding, creating lived-in color, and making her clients feel confident and beautiful when leaving the salon. Throughout her career, she has pursued numerous advanced education opportunities to enhance her skills, with her favorite being the hands-on techniques she learned from the renowned stylist Wayne Tuggle. In her free time she favors spending time with her husband, son, and her dog, Leeroy.

Melissa joined the Bangs and Boujee team in 2025, bringing nearly a decade of experience and a passion for creative, customized hair. She’s been in the industry since 2016 and has been behind the chair since 2018, holding a Virginia Cosmetology License since that same year. Melissa specializes in precision cutting, blonding services, low-maintenance color, and vivids—perfect for clients looking for anything from soft, natural tones to bold, head-turning color. Her goal is always to create looks that are both stylish and wearable, tailored to each client’s personality and lifestyle.

Sarah joined the Bangs and Boujee team in 2024 and has been behind the chair since the same year. She got her start in the industry in 2023 and holds cosmetology licenses in both Arkansas and Virginia. She specializes in blonding services and lived-in color, focusing on natural, low-maintenance results that are easy to maintain and tailored to each client. Sarah takes a thoughtful approach to color, aiming to create looks that grow out beautifully and fit seamlessly into your lifestyle.

Allie joined Bangs and Boujee in May 2025 as a Tier 2 stylist. She has been in the industry since 2020 and began working behind the chair in 2021. Allie holds a Virginia Cosmetology License and is certified in Brazilian Blowouts and Kovi sew-in extensions (2024). She specializes in blonding, brunette color, and lived-in looks, with a focus on creating soft, dimensional results that are both polished and easy to maintain. Allie takes a thoughtful, technique-driven approach to each service, aiming for color that complements your natural features and fits your day-to-day routine.

A proud VCU alum with a degree in Marketing and Communications, Alyssa brings a client-focused mindset to everything she does at Bangs & Boujee. Her passion for all things beauty made stepping into the salon world feel like the perfect fit. From the moment you walk through the door, she’s all about making sure you feel welcomed, cared for, and set up for the best experience possible. When she’s not at the front desk, you can find her binge-watching reality TV, exploring trails with her dog Hazel, or diving into a new creative hobby.

DESTINY PALMER

Event/ Marketing Coordinator

Destiny is a proud Virginia Tech alum with a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. She joined the Bangs and Boujee team in August 2024 as a receptionist, quickly making her mark by diving into events and marketing. Now based in Florida and working fully remote, Destiny plays a key role behind the scenes—managing marketing efforts, planning our events, and bringing the salon’s brand to life online. She’s the creative force behind most of our social media content and the go-to coordinator for, well… all the things!
