B & B opened its doors in August of 2018 and has been servicing the northern Virginia regions ever since. Founder and salon owner, Rachel Redden, has been in the industry for 6 years: assisting for a year and then taking over behind the chair for 2 years. Her work has been featured and published on popular blogs Inspired by This and Latest Hairstyles.
Rachel started taking hair classes in 2013 and has been a licensed hairdresser since 2015. After spending a year assisting and doing hair on the side, she moved to Los Angeles, CA to further her education with a new foundation from the Toni & Guy Academy. There she studied directly under cutting master David Evans (National Creative Director) and award winning colorist Courtney Greenday.
In 2017, Rachel moved back to Virginia and accepted a job working behind the chair at a high end salon in north Stafford. By summer of 2018, she had transitioned into salon ownership by opening Bangs & Boujee Salon Studio where she now takes clients 4-6 days a week and travels some weekends for weddings.
Rachel’s continuing education includes hands on techniques and classes from Lisa Walker, Emmanuel Andrade, Victor Valverde, Judith Viola, Nicole Higgins, Sarai Speer, and many others. She has graduated from the BBC Master boot camp class, is Brazilian Blowout Certified, Systeme Volume Extension Certified (currently not offering this service), and a Halo Couture Extensions distributor. Her specialties include bridal hair, color corrections, and blonding services.
Hey friend! Thanks so much for stopping by my page! I’m Rachel, 22 year old Marine Corps wife and dog mom to the two goodest good boys. My husband and I have been married since March 2018. Between our schedules we don’t have too much time together so when we do we love to order Buffalo Wild Wings or some local Asian food and watch The Office at home. We’re both so busy that we just really enjoy being homebodies together any chance we get!
I have two dogs; Felix is our 2 year old Corgi and Kenji is our one year old Shiba-Inu. Both big, stubborn goofballs, but we love them anyways! They are definitely spoiled rotten and if you follow along with my Instagram stories you probably already know that.
In my little spare time I enjoy watching trashy reality tv (where are my BIP fans at?), buying an unnecessary amount of Starbucks, spending too much money at Target, and DIY projects that make our house feel more complete. Home Decor in particular is definitely my jam. Feel free to stalk my Pinterest to really see where my head’s at.
I never really saw myself doing hair. I joined an elective class for cosmetology at my high school because I was too young to sign up for the CNA class I truly wanted to take. I actually went to college for an entire year majoring in nursing because I truly believed that’s where God called me to be and that that was what my purpose in life was for. After a year of craziness and not really knowing where I belonged my passion for hair became more and more apparent. I missed doing hair SO much, even if it was only streaky yellow highlights at that time.. I moved out to California that summer with my parents and picked back up in a more renowned school with a much higher level of education in addition to starting back at work full time. A LONG year went by and I found myself moving right on back to Virginia because that’s where I had my license still and I was so ready to get my hands back in some hair. 2 years later and I’m now the proud owner of my thriving salon studio! It’s crazy how quickly your life can change for the better.
